How to install your Dropbox folder for Digital Assessments

When the club conducts a digital assessment members will be asked to upload their images into a private Dropbox folder which has been created, one each for every member of the club, by the committee specifically for the digital assessments.

  • Each member's Dropbox folder will be titled “Member's Surname Member's Given Name SPC Photos."
  • Each club member's folder is "private" to the extent that the committee also has access but no other member does.
  • You are invited, via a shared link, to download, manage and edit the your folder.
  • There will be a deadline for you to complete uploading your images for each digital assessment and it will be advised with plenty of warning but it is a good idea to start preparing your images well ahead of time and expect the deadline to be the last Friday of the month before the assessment.
  • Below are instructions on how to import your private member's folder from the Club’s Dropbox account and place it directly onto your computer where you can easily access it and where it will automatically sync with the club's folder

Dropbox App

The process of uploading your images will be much easier if you download and install the “Dropbox App”.

Windows Computers

The link will install a Dropbox folder directly into your Windows Explorer and a Dropbox icon into your Windows Task Bar. The program can be now launched from Windows Start Menu.

Mac

The link will install a Dropbox folder directly into your Mac’s Finder and a Dropbox icon into your Mac Menu Bar. The program can be now launched from Mac’s Launchpad.

Open the Dropbox App

  1. Go ahead and open Dropbox.
  2. Log in with your username and password (the one you were asked to create when you installed the Dropbox Desktop App). From there you will see that everything in your cloud based Dropbox is also displayed on your dropbox desktop app.
  3. Add your member's SPC Photos folder to your computer:
    1. Open the Dropbox folder in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
    2. Navigate through your Explorer or Finder to your folder (e.g. Williams Bruce SPC Photos). Drag and drop it into the open Dropbox folder. I would suggest at the “parent” or “root” level, where it will be easiest to relocate.

Finally, add images to the folder

  1. Open the Dropbox folder in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
  2. Navigate through your Explorer or Finder to locate the images you wish to upload, then then drag and drop (or copy and paste) them into the folder.
  3. You can even save or export an image directly from Lightroom or Photoshop into this folder.
  4. Dropbox can handle large files, but even so, it's best to convert them to JPEG to keep the size reasonable. Your images will automatically sync everywhere you access your files in Dropbox, including dropbox.com) and even Dropbox on your phone or tablet if you install that too) .

Job Done!

The SPC committee can now see and access the images in your shared SPC Photos folder and make sure they get included in the digital assessment!
